Founded as a public benefit corporation
Eleven researchers, one thesis: the safety question gets decided by whoever is building the systems, so we should be building them.
We are a public benefit corporation. That is a legal structure, not a slogan: it puts the stated purpose into the charter and requires us to report against it, which makes abandoning it a governance event rather than a quiet decision.

Eleven researchers, one thesis: the safety question gets decided by whoever is building the systems, so we should be building them.
The practice of shipping an honest capability disclosure alongside a model starts here, and has been unbroken since.
Capability tiers introduced, with named safeguards and an escalation path to the board rather than to the launch team.
Feature-level analysis moves from a demo to a release gate, and the tooling is open-sourced for outside replication.
Safety-relevant incidents are logged continuously, with the fix and the timeline, rather than being summarised in an annual report.
We hire for judgement under uncertainty more than for a specific stack. If your experience does not map onto a listing, write to us anyway.
Two days of hands-on work with our tooling, held with an academic partner and open to applicants outside the company.
Closed-door session with regulators and independent researchers on what a testable capability threshold actually looks like.
Platform roadmap, agent patterns, and an open Q&A with the engineering teams. Recorded and published afterwards.
Sales, press, security disclosures, and research access all arrive in the same place and are answered by a person, usually within two business days.
